FENDI Launches Its Centenary Celebrations with a Captivating Spring/Summer 2025 Show

In a sublime blend of modernity and heritage, FENDI celebrates its centenary with a collection that pays tribute to its 100 years of history and excellence. Kim Jones, Artistic Director of Couture and Womenswear, has crafted a proposal inspired by the 1920s, merging contemporary and practical style with the sophistication that defines the Maison.

“The foundations of how women dress today and, in many ways, how we think are rooted in the 1920s. It is about modernity in style and attitude,” explains Jones. The year 1925 not only marks the founding of FENDI but also significant cultural moments such as the International Exhibition of Modern Decorative and Industrial Arts in Paris and the publication of Virginia Woolf’s Mrs. Dalloway and F. Scott Fitzgerald’s The Great Gatsby. These milestones redefined art and thought of the time, influencing contemporary aesthetics.

For this spring/summer season, FENDI returns to its roots, exploring the modernism of its early years while projecting that essence into the future. The collection celebrates the connection between the house’s feminine legacy and a refreshed vision, with an emphasis on quality and craftsmanship.

Luxurious fabrics such as silk, organza, and the softest suedes are highlighted, enveloping women in fluid and elegant forms. Jones has achieved a perfect balance between structured and unstructured elements, with intricate embroidery and garments that, though seemingly simple at first glance, are crafted with complex techniques.

The collection masterfully combines artisanal craftsmanship with industrial production, bridging haute couture and prêt-à-porter. The garments play with the concepts of lightness and movement, offering options for both day and night, from silk tea dresses to flowing ballerina slips. The collaboration with Red Wing adds a touch of robustness and versatility to the delicate pieces, such as the boots that bring a new dimension to the collection.

A highlight of the season is the reinterpretation of the iconic Mamma Baguette bag. Presented in a taller, wider, and more voluminous version, the bag pays homage to Adele Fendi, the founder of the house and grandmother of Silvia Venturini Fendi, Artistic Director of Accessories and Menswear.

This collection not only commemorates FENDI’s 100 years but also signifies its ongoing advancement into the future. By combining modern aesthetics with artisanal tradition, FENDI demonstrates that innovation and history can coexist in perfect harmony. In a constantly changing fashion world, the Maison continues to stand out for its commitment to quality and design.

As Silvia Venturini Fendi affirms: “Quality is the number one point, besides the beauty of design. I always think about the connection between fashion and time; I believe quality is the defining feature. It is the timeless testament to what we have achieved in our hundred years of history.” This spring/summer 2025, FENDI reaffirms that its distinguishing mark lies not only in design but also in enduring quality.
