HERMÈS: An Invitation to Twilight
Hermès invites us to explore the boundary between day and night with its Fall–Winter 2026 women’s collection, presented on March 7 at the Garde Républicaine, a venue that reflects the brand’s equestrian DNA. Founded in 1837 as a maker of saddles and horse equipment, Hermès continues to place equestrianism at the heart of its history and reinvention—like a stirrup supporting the house through time.
From the entrance, the sensory experience unfolds. A dark corridor that deepens step by step, evoking the transition from day to night, leads into a space where the floor—uneven and cushioned like moss—suggests walking on the moon or through a forest at dusk. The winding runway, flanked by half-moons, creates the sense that ethereal figures might emerge at any moment, inviting the viewer to sharpen their gaze and appreciate every detail of twilight’s magic hour.
The color palette reflects this duality: grays and blue-gray, deep blue, the house’s iconic browns, black, a dark wine-like red, forest green, and touches of muted yellow. These tones oscillate between the warmth of the setting sun and the cool glow of the moon, illuminating textures and surfaces in a hypnotic way.
The silhouettes are bold and modern. The cuts—irregular yet precise—seem to be drawn in a single stroke, combining functionality and comfort with elegance. Variations on the suit, trapezoidal shapes, and jodhpurs reveal a balance between control and emancipation, with clean lines that feel almost sculpted by a whip—made to move. Each piece expresses a restrained sensuality, never constrained.
The brand’s emblematic materials stand out in this collection. Leather catches the light and shines intensely, while wools and mohair display iridescent reflections that shift with movement. Tuscan shearling appears in movable, detachable collars that soften the silhouette of leather coats, while double-faced ribbed knitwear allows color to emerge from darkness. Asymmetrical, biker-inspired dresses in glossy ink-blue leather flow with subtle details revealing inner layers—pale blue shirts that evoke fragments of daylight beneath the night. Forest-green houndstooth coats paired with iridescent jodhpurs and oversized sweaters seem to promise secret rides at twilight.
The metamorphosis of silhouettes plays with exposed skin, contrasts of color, and interior–exterior textures. Each piece reflects the duality celebrated this season: day and night, modernity and tradition, irregularity and harmony, classic silhouette and restrained sensuality. The collection transforms the fleeting nature of twilight into a tangible moment in which every garment not only dresses the body but reshapes the perception of space and time.
As a full moon rises like a silver sun, floating above the runway, Hermès turns this suspended moment between light and shadow into a magical experience—where fashion becomes visual and sensory poetry, reminding us that even the most fleeting moments can contain an eternity of elegance.
