Herno: Winter as Language and Home

A family-founded brand, Herno was established in 1948 in Lesa, Italy, by Giuseppe Marenzi and his wife Alessandra Diana, who began producing high-quality raincoats and outerwear inspired by the climatic conditions of Lake Maggiore. Since then, the house has built a legacy where technical expertise, textile innovation, and aesthetic sensitivity naturally coexist.

For the Fall-Winter 2026 season, the brand invited us to its “home.” And yes, home is the right word. While the showroom was monumental in scale, its design and decoration evoked the intimate warmth we associate with a family home. A modern space, yes, but dressed in warm tones, with soft, welcoming armchairs, and an atmosphere that balanced sophistication with closeness. Added to this was the hospitality of the PR team, making every guest feel embraced, welcome, and part of something.

As Claudio Marenzi, the brand’s president, explains:

“We imagined a presentation that did not impose a single direction. Neither a runway nor a fashion show. Rather, an environment where the collection could exist as a presence. It is not a theatrical turn nor an alignment with a system that does not belong to us. It is an expansion of our language. We believe in product quality as a foundation; the vision must be reciprocal: what we observe concerns us, and what we wear enters into dialogue with the environment around us.”

That intention was evident from the very first moment. Upon entering the showroom, a central platform displayed the models wearing the collection. They held poses but remained relaxed, interacting with guests without leaving the space. The approach differed from a traditional fashion show: we weren’t watching garments pass at a distance, but coexisting with them. Again, the feeling was that of being in a contained, almost familiar space.

On the racks, the designs confirmed the brand’s identity: sober, modern, elegant, and deeply practical. Herno perfectly understands the needs of the contemporary woman and man: to dress elegantly, move comfortably, and project a quiet luxury—one that doesn’t need to call attention to assert itself.

The color palette was simply magnificent. Materials, textures, and tones evoked origin, home, warmth, and familiarity—a chromatic narrative that connects with the client and reinforces brand coherence.

The collection is structured around three universes—Origin, Excellence, and Advanced—that shape its aesthetic language. They intertwine in modular proposals and interpret winter as a space for expression and exploration.

Origin represents the house’s most authentic DNA. It combines a feminine sportswear attitude—light, dynamic, and playful—with an urban business approach tailored to the metropolitan rhythm. Relaxed tailoring, shirts, washed denim, and technical fabrics create a versatile wardrobe that balances functionality and sophistication. Within this universe, Alpine Circle stands out, inspired by chalet and après-ski imagery, with oversized volumes, generous padding, and a bolder version featuring metallic accents and animal prints.

Excellence embodies luxury in its purest expression. Cashmere, silk blends, and baby camel define clean, enveloping silhouettes, elevated by subtle details like gold clasps, pearl buttons, and leather inserts. Here, softness and material quality are the absolute protagonists.

Advanced offers a more architectural and contemporary perspective. Defined lines, structured shoulders, and a minimalist total-black aesthetic create a precise, modern proposal, where interiors and finishes reveal the brand’s technical rigor.

Altogether, the Fall-Winter 2026 offering not only reaffirms Herno’s technical and aesthetic legacy but also expands its language toward a more sensory and intimate experience. A winter that does not impose itself, but envelops. A luxury that does not shout, yet endures.
