Luke Evans – Style and Substance

In the bustling world of fashion, a new star is born BDXY, an apparel and lifestyle brand founded by the suave and charismatic actor Luke Evans, in collaboration with the visionary architect and project manager Fran Tomas and the creative and luxury stylist force of Christopher Brown. With a mission to redefine contemporary style while honoring the timeless allure of Classic Hollywood, BDXY emerges as a beacon of sophistication, luxury, and sustainability.

At the heart of BDXY’s ethos lies a fusion of boldness and sensuality, encapsulated in its very name. Pronounced BDXY, the brand draws inspiration from the words “Boldand “Sexy,” embodying a dynamic energy that transcends mere appearance. As Luke Evans describes it, “Bold is a strong, confident word, and sexy is something that is appealing in many different ways.Together, they form the cornerstone of BDXY’s identity, offering a collection that radiates confidence and allure.

But BDXY’s allure goes beyond mere aesthetics. Sustainability lies at the core of its philosophy, driving every aspect of production. From ethically sourced fibers to recycled and upcycled materials, BDXY is committed to minimizing its environmental footprint. By partnering with a family business in Portugal and embracing eco-friendly methods, the brand breathes new life into timeless staples while championing the cause of responsible fashion.

Inspiration is found in the rich tapestry of Luke Evans’ profession, with each piece in the collection named after a role commonly found on a film set. From “The Stuntto “The Focus, these titles pay homage to the enduring legacy of cinema while underscoring the essential nature of BDXY’s garments. It’s a testament to the brand’s commitment to craftsmanship and quality, echoing the sentiments of a bygone era while embracing the demands of modernity, with its soft luxurious feel.

The journey of BDXY began with a single garment the classical T-shirt, a nod to the iconic style of Old Hollywood legends such as Marlon Brando and Steve McQueen wearing white T-shirts. From this humble starting point, the brand has expanded into a comprehensive range of apparel designed to instill comfort and confidence in every wearer, regardless of the occasion.

At its core, BDXY is about more than just clothing – it’s a celebration of travel, culture, and the shared experiences that define us. Each piece is imbued with a sense of wanderlust, capturing the essence of memories and happiness found in far-flung destinations. Rooted in a shared appreciation of quality fabrics and timeless design, BDXY caters to all body shapes and sizes, ensuring that every wearer feels like a star in their own right.

With a lineup featuring fabrics such as Lyocell (TencelTM), Organic Cotton, SEAQUALTM, and Carvico (Vita Fabric) Econyl®, BDXY offers a glimpse into the future of sustainable fashion. It’s a vision where style and conscience coexist harmoniously, where every garment tells a story of elegance and empowerment.

JVDAS BERRA Luke, BDXY seems to be more than just a clothing brand—it’s a statement. Can you tell us about the inspiration behind the name and how it encapsulates the essence of the brand?

LUKE EVANS I wanted to encapsulate in clothing and accessories what it means to be bold, sexy, and confident. Theres a unique sense of empowerment that everyone can relate to when putting something on from your wardrobe that makes you feel strong and your best self and that all of these characteristics will be projected onto others in a positive way.

JB The journey of BDXY began with a single garment, the T-shirt, inspired by the iconic style of Old Hollywood legends. How do you infuse that timeless charm into modern-day fashion?

LE For me, it’s all about timeless shapes, silhouettes, and cuts that are classic and stand the test of time. BDXY combines the nostalgia and charm of old Hollywood mixed with a modern- day fashion that pays homage to the icons of that generation but still works today. I have always admired the likes of Steve McQueen, Paul Newman, and Harrison Ford and their effortless style is such an inspiration for me in my career and also with the brand.

For example, BDXY’s T-shirt (inspired by these legends) has clean lines, and sustainable fabrics to create what we believe is the best-fitting t-shirt on the market that resonates with our fashion- forward customers.

JB Sustainability is at the core of BDXY’s philosophy. Could you share more about the brand’s commitment to eco- friendly practices and how it shapes your approach to design and production?

LE Sustainability is crucial in any industry, especially in fashion. Fashion is the second largest wasteful industry so in all the ways we could be a positive influence, this mattered to us and we prioritized.

JB Each piece in BDXY’s collection is named after a role commonly found on a film set, paying homage to the enduring legacy of cinema. How does your background in acting influence your approach to fashion design and storytelling through clothing?

LE I think fashion and film go hand in hand. Just as actors embody characters to show emotions, and become another person in an effort to effectively convey a narrative, designers use garments to tell stories, evoke feelings, and create memories.

JB BDXY celebrates travel, culture, and shared experiences. How do you translate those elements into the design process, ensuring that every piece tells a unique story?

LE I am lucky enough to have traveled the world and have explored so many amazing places and countries. I find inspiration everywhere I go – whether it be a floor tile in Marrakech or the modern architecture of Dubai.

This inspiration has been injected into our collections to create themes that reflect these special times and experiences.

JB With BDXY, you’re not just creating clothing, but a vision for the future of sustainable fashion. How do you envision the brand’s impact on the industry, and what message do you hope to convey to consumers through your designs?

LE BDXYs vision for sustainable fashion extends beyond the brand. We are consciously prioritizing eco-friendly materials and ethical production. When it comes to our design process its super important for us as a company to convey a message of conscious consumption, showing that fashion can be sustainable. We hope to inspire consumers to make mindful choices and to see their clothing as more than just garments but as statements of their values and commitment to a better and healthier planet.

JB Alongside your role in shaping BDXY, you have exciting upcoming projects as an actor, including the “Weekend Escape Projectand “World-Breaker. Can you give us a glimpse into these projects and what audiences can expect from them?

LE They are two very different films. Both were thoroughly enjoyable to shoot. “Weekend Escapewas my second time working with legendary Director Luc Besson and we shot it in gorgeous Taipei. It’s full of action and humour with a strong narrative. “World Breakeris an end-of-the-world apocalyptic kind of movie based on a father and child trying to survive the chaos. I’ve just finished shooting in Belfast and the surrounding locations of Northern Ireland. It’s been intense and the weather has been unforgiving, but it will be a powerful brilliantly thrilling movie.

In a world where trends come and go, BDXY stands as a beacon of enduring style and sustainability. With Luke Evans at the helm, supported by Fran Tomas and Christopher Brown, the brand is poised to leave an indelible mark on the fashion landscape, inspiring wearers to embrace their boldness and embrace their sexiness, one garment at a time.
